Cornerstone Academy celebrated their new designation as a Team WET School at Minute Maid Park with the Houston Astros on September 9, 2004, and help root the Astros onto a win!. The Council for Environmental Education (CEE) and the City of Houston teamed up to launch their water wise program at Cornerstone and shared wildflower seed packets and information about water resources with the fans!

City of Houston mascots Edgar Egret and Clara Catfish greeted fans as they entered the ballpark along with a group of Cornerstone 7th grade students who had participated in a local water study project last school year. This year, the campus plans to involve more students in a variety of water related projects and lessons.

Team WET Schools is an urban water education program of the Council for Environmental Education that empowers urban youth to become responsible stewards of our water resources.  Team WET Schools is sponsored in Houston by the City of Houston Department of Public Works and Harris County Storm Water Management Joint Task Force.
