Congratulations to Mrs. Hamilton and Mr. Gregg! They were two of the 28 Spring Branch ISD teachers who received grants from the Fund for Teachers Foundation. Fund for Teachers is an education enrichment fund established by Raymond Plank, Chairman of Houston based Apache Corporation, and supported by individual and corporate donors. It supports summertime travel and study trips.

Renee Hamilton was awarded $3030.00 for her travel request to Philadelphia and Boston. She says, "I was truly  enriched and re-energized by visiting the Revolutionary sites where important historical events took place. I also visited Lexington, Concord, Salem, Cambridge, Quincy, and Plymouth, Massachusetts. With many memories, interesting books, photos, and souvenirs to share with my students, I returned more proud and patriotic than ever! Thanks Mr. Plank for making me smile a lot!"

Shawn Gregg was lucky enough to receive a grant to go visit the Peruvian Amazon rainforest and hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. "The experience was incredible. Included in my tour were professors with expertise in rainforest biodiversity, ecology, geology, geography, ornithology (birds), and entomology (insects). I really gained an understanding of the region. It was a beautiful country with wonderful and friendly people. Without Fund For Teachers, I would never have had this opportunity of a lifetime," declares Shawn Gregg.
