French 1 (7th Grade)
Welcome to French 1 (7th Grade). Bienvenue dans la classe de francais 1 (7ieme Annee).
In French 1, we will concentrate on learning basic French words and expressions, and beginning grammar. We will cover the following topics to build vocabulary: greetings and how to introduce oneself and others, colors and numbers, talking about your family, telling time, the calendar and the seasons, the weather, clothing, shopping. In grammar we will focus on: conjugating the verbs to have, to be, to go and to do, conjugating regular -ER verbs, agreement of adjectives with the gender and the number of the noun it describes, subject pronouns, possessive pronouns, definite and indefinite articles. We will also talk about French culture, geography and history and make connections with what is taught in Social Studies to show the importance and influance of France in the way America was shaped.
We are using some very exciting new online state-of-the-art speech recognition language program that will help the students to master the French language in a fun and interactive way. Students will use this online program every other day. The student is also able to log on to Tell Me More at home.

The textbook we use for the chapters referred to below is "Bon Voyage". Students get printouts for each chapter, but the whole textbook is also available online through the Bon Voyage line indicated in the middle section of this web page.
