Spring Branch ISD (SBISD) has earned the Career and Technical Association of Texas (CTAT) CTE District of Distinction designation for the third consecutive year, recognizing the district’s continued excellence in preparing students for college, careers and life beyond high school.
The recognition follows the opening of the new Harold D. Guthrie Center for Excellence, a major investment that provides professional learning environments and expands hands-on experiences, including student-led enterprises that serve the community.
Across SBISD, CTE connects classroom learning with future possibilities. Dedicated teachers, counselors, campus leaders and industry partners help students discover their interests, develop real-world skills, earn industry credentials, and build a plan for what comes next.
Learning that leads to results
SBISD offers 26 CTE programs of study, with opportunities spanning health science, engineering, agriculture, construction, culinary arts, automotive technology and more. Students can earn industry credentials, participate in work-based learning and develop skills that support continued education and entry into the workforce or secondary studies.
Recent results demonstrate the impact:
1,791 industry-based certifications earned during the 2025-26 school year.
30,575 work-based learning hours completed during the 2025-26 school year.
More than 49% growth in CTE program completion rates over the past three years. Completion reflects students finishing a sequence of courses within a career pathway.
These experiences support SBISD’s T-2-4 vision: Every Child will attain a technical certificate or military training, or a two- or four-year degree.
The new Guthrie Center
Made possible through the voter-approved 2022 Bond, the 219,000+-square-foot center has capacity for 2,200+ students and offers 14 specialized programs of study. Professional learning environments give students access to the tools, technology and experiences used in today’s workplaces.
The opening marked a new chapter in a district legacy that began with the Spring Branch Career Center in 1972. Today, that commitment to hands-on learning continues across SBISD middle and high schools, the Guthrie Center and the Agricultural Science Center.
Students are already serving the community
Two student-led enterprise services are operational: dog grooming and floral services, both housed at the SBISD Agricultural Science Center. Community members who use the services help students gain experience serving real clients and meeting professional expectations.
Additional student enterprises will come online as programs expand their public services, creating more opportunities for students to connect learning with meaningful work.
The sixth consecutive CTAT recognition celebrates the people and partnerships behind these opportunities. With expanded facilities, strong student results and more ways to learn by doing, SBISD continues to help Every Child build a future with purpose.
